June 5-6, 2008

Carlos Gutierrez (Big Train 2005) became the highest Cal Ripken, Sr. League alumni ever drafted when he was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the first round (27th overall) of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on June 5. Then, fellow Big Train alum Evan Frederickson (Big Train 2006-2007) quickly became the second-highest Ripken, Sr. League alum ever drafted when he was taken by the Milwaukee Brewers in the first supplemental round (35th overall).
