NEWS

Six Cal Ripken League alumni have earned spots on the Louisville Slugger All-America Teams. Chris Henderson (George Mason/Youse's Orioles 2007), a semi-finalist for the NCBWA Dick Howser Trophy, earned First-Team All-America honors, while his George Mason teammate Scott Krieger (George Mason/Youse's Orioles 2006) was named to the Second Team. Shortstops Ben Orloff (UC-Irvine/Rockville Express 2006), Gary Helmick (Towson/Rockville Express 2008), and Drew Lee (Morehead State/Bethesda Big Train 2008-09), and Jarrett Parker (Virginia/Herndon Braves 2007) were all named to the Third Team.

Baseball America named Parker a Second-Team All-American in its June 29 - July 12 issue. Parker hit .364/.454/.684 for Virginia in 2009. The sophomore outfielder collected 92 hits, including 16 home runs. He drove in 65 runs and scored 75. Parker walked 35 times and stole 19 bases for the Cavaliers.

Meanwhile, Matt Bodenchuk (Mesa State/College Park Bombers 2006-07) and Cody Walden (Armstrong Atlantic/Alexandria Aces 2008) earned Daktronics Division II All-America honors, and Mike Celenza (Salisbury/College Park Bombers 2007-08) has been named an All-American by D3Baseball.com.
