The Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League announced today its roster for the second CRCBL/VBL All-Star Game, Monday, July 11 at Eagle Field in Veterans Memorial Park on James Madison University’s campus in Harrisonburg, Va. The All-Star Game will feature stars and prospects from the Ripken League taking on their counterparts in the Valley Baseball League. First pitch is set for 7:30 pm.

The Ripken League stars will be managed by Tim Norris of Youse’s Orioles. He will be assisted by Chuck Winegardner, manager of the Southern Maryland Nationals, Eric Williams, manager of the Herndon Braves, and Corey Haines, manager of the Alexandria Aces.

The Ripken League defeated the Valley League, 2-1, in the inaugural Mid-Atlantic Classic on July 15, 2009 at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf, Maryland. In 2010, the game was canceled due to heavy rains and tight July schedules for both leagues.

On July 19, 2011, the Ripken League will host its own annual All-Star Game at Shirley Povich Field in Bethesda, Md. The morning will feature a Scout Day for all interested Ripken League players and the game (first pitch 7:30 pm) will be immediately preceded by a Home Run Derby.

The Ripken League and Valley League are both proud members of the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball (www.nacsb.org), an organization which fosters cooperation and coordination among summer college baseball leagues around the nation.
