Giants partner with Criswell Automotive
The City of Gaithersburg and the Gaithersburg Sports Association (GSA) are pleased to announce a community partnership with Criswell Automotive to bring quality, competitive baseball to Gaithersburg. On June 7, 2013 at 6 p.m., GSA’s Gaithersburg Giants, members of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League, will play their first home game on the newly named Criswell Automotive Field @ Kelley Park.
“We are delighted to work with GSA in bringing Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball to Gaithersburg,” said Mayor Sidney Katz. “We are especially pleased that a partnership with GSA and Criswell Automotive has allowed us to make enhancements to Kelley Park that will not only benefit the Gaithersburg Giants, but the entire community.”
Collaborative improvements to the field in preparation for the Giants season have included new backstops, dugouts and bullpens, new safety netting, and heightened outfield fencing.
“Since 1972 Criswell Automotive has been fortunate to grow with the City of Gaithersburg and the Gaithersburg community. For the past 41 years I have seen an exceptional community grow with a personal and caring approach, unique to the Washington Metro Area.” said Harry Criswell. “We wanted to give back and invest in a community that has provided a great opportunity to do business. This facility will become a positive place for families to come together as a community and instill the values of teamwork and sportsmanship in our youth.”
Alfie Riley, President of GSA, said, “We are very grateful to the City of Gaithersburg and all of its exceptional employees involved in the process of bringing Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball to our great City. I would also like to thank my friend Harry Criswell for his generosity and continued commitment and support to our community and to GSA. I hope the community will come out on opening day and support the Giants in our inaugural season.”
